The logical flow of all this! After the wedding ceremony in the church, the bride was taken to her father’s place. She came to the bridegroom’s place only the next day, which was mostly on Sunday. The father was “handing” his daughter to the bridegroom and was saying: “I am giving you my treasure, use it with happiness”. The bridegroom promises to take a good care of the “treasure”, and in the beginning he really keeps the promise. Afterwards, they were going around the house 3 times (in our days this is done around the Republic Square). When going out of the house, the uncle was standing in front of the door, and was making them to pay some amount of money in order to let them go out. In old times, that amount could cover all the expenses of the wedding, but today it only may make happy the uncle and his friends. Before going to the house, someone called “a fox” was sent to the bridegroom’s place, who was informing them about the arrival. The mother-in-law was giving the most favorite food of the “fox” to him– a chicken! In front of the bridegroom’s house a cock or lamb was sacrificed -depending on how much money they had, and from the roof of the house were thrown, dry fruits, wheat, sweets, and coins, in one word everything that was symbolizing a prosperous life. The musicians were the inseparable part of the weddings. Especially for them was the understanding of “shabash”. For a song done in a special enthusiasm, there were receiving quite big amount of money. Comments HAYARPI

The bride’s parents had to give a dowry. It included minim 3 items of bedding, collection of girl’s lingerie, some kitchen items, furniture, land, etc. It is interesting to mention that the presentation of the dowry is also a very important ceremony. All the relatives were gathering and starting to count the number of glasses, plates, and clothes and comparing them with other brides’ dowry. The dowry stories were with the village till the next wedding was taking place. All these things are totally incomparable with nowadays reality. Now the girl’s father may take out a key of the car or even a house from his pocket, sometimes even both, and gives to the couple.
